Liverpool Football Club has unveiled a series of heartfelt and permanent tributes to honour the memory of Diogo Jota, following the tragic passing of the beloved forward. The club confirmed the commemorations in an official statement and emotional ceremony held at Anfield on Friday.

Central to the tributes is a memorial sculpture situated outside the Kop end of Anfield. Uniquely crafted from recycled fan materials—including old scarves, banners, and memorabilia—it stands as a symbol of unity and everlasting connection between Jota and the Liverpool faithful. The sculpture captures the Portuguese star mid-celebration, arms wide in one of his iconic goal moments.

In a post on its official X (formerly Twitter) handle, the Club wrote:
“We wish to express our heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to everyone who has taken the time to leave tributes in honour of Diogo Jota and his brother Andre Silva at Anfield. The club is now able to provide details on how it will create more permanent tributes moving forward.”

To further immortalize his contribution to the club, Liverpool has officially retired the number 20 jersey, which Jota proudly wore during his time with the Reds. No player will don the number again, in recognition of his outstanding talent, professionalism, and the deep bond he formed with teammates and supporters alike.

As part of the tribute, players will wear a “Forever 20” emblem on their kits throughout the 2025–26 season, placed above the club crest. The emblem will also be present in the players’ tunnel, dressing rooms, and other key areas around Anfield and the AXA Training Centre.

In addition, the club announced that 100% of profits from official merchandise bearing Jota’s name and number will be directed to a new grassroots football program launched through the LFC Foundation. The initiative will support underprivileged youth across Merseyside and in Jota’s hometown of Massarelos, Portugal, providing free training, equipment, and mentorship opportunities.

Speaking at the ceremony, Liverpool CEO Billy Hogan said:
“Diogo was not only a phenomenal footballer but also a deeply humble and kind individual who inspired millions. These tributes are a way for us to ensure his light continues to shine, not just here at Anfield, but in the lives of future generations he will continue to touch.”

Jota joined Liverpool in 2020 and quickly became a fan favourite with his sharp finishing, tireless work ethic, and infectious passion. Over his time with the Reds, he scored crucial goals in both domestic and European competitions, helping the club win the FA Cup, Carabao Cup, and Community Shield.

As fans gather to pay their respects and reflect on Jota’s legacy, Liverpool Football Club has ensured that his spirit will remain an enduring part of its identity — forever Red, forever 20.
