Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, has reiterated his administration’s unwavering commitment to transparency, accountability, and anti-corruption as he received the Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), Dr. Adamu Aliyu, at the Government House, Enugu.

Governor Mbah shared highlights of the high-level engagement via his official X (formerly Twitter) account on Thursday, describing the ICPC Chairman’s visit for a roundtable session with Attorneys General from the South East as “in alignment with our governance philosophy.”

“In Enugu State, we practice zero tolerance for corruption. We have built systems that are above self and stronger than any individual,” the governor stated. “No one collects government revenue in cash. Whether it is ₦100 or ₦200,000, all payments are made through our digital e-payment platform.”

Mbah further recalled that within hours of assuming office, he signed Executive Order 001 on the Citizens’ Charter, committing his administration to regular and transparent communication with the people of Enugu State. This, he said, forms the cornerstone of his administration’s service delivery and accountability framework.

“Our government holds regular consultative town hall meetings with citizens and stakeholder groups, where we present our scorecard and receive feedback,” Mbah added. “We are building a culture of openness, participation, and trust.”

Speaking on economic development, Governor Mbah emphasized that his ambitious goal to grow the state’s economy from $4.4 billion to $30 billion in eight years depends on investor confidence. “Investors don’t follow mission statements. They follow the rule of law, transparency, and ease of doing business — and that is the Enugu we are building,” he said.

The governor welcomed the ICPC’s readiness to collaborate with Enugu State in enhancing anti-corruption frameworks and supporting efforts to institutionalize good governance.

Dr. Aliyu, in his remarks during the visit, commended Governor Mbah’s proactive initiatives and stressed the Commission’s commitment to working with state governments in rooting out corruption and promoting integrity across public institutions.

The visit marks a significant step in advancing the partnership between Enugu State and national anti-corruption agencies, as both parties work to embed lasting systems of accountability and ethical governance in the region.
