Tunji-Ojo also disclosed that the board approved the constitution of a committee to develop a harmonised Scheme of Service for the four paramilitary services under the ministry, aimed at improving uniformity in operations, career progression, and human capital development.

Another major decision from the board meeting was the greenlight for fresh recruitment across all four services and the board’s secretariat. According to the minister, the online application process is scheduled to commence from Monday, July 14, 2025.

In addition, the board deliberated on 224 disciplinary cases involving erring officers from across the four services, reaffirming its commitment to upholding professional conduct and accountability.

Key outcomes from the July 11 meeting include:

Approval of promotion for 95 top management officers in the NCoS, NIS, FFS, and NSCDC.

Constitution of a committee to develop a harmonised Scheme of Service for the paramilitary agencies.

Consideration of 224 disciplinary cases involving personnel from all services.

Approval of a new recruitment process, with applications set to begin online from July 14, 2025.

Timetable for the 2025 Promotion Exercise, to run from August to November 2025.

The Minister emphasized that these reforms are part of the ongoing efforts by the Federal Government to revamp internal security architecture, strengthen institutional capacity, and improve service delivery across critical sectors.

“These decisions are designed to improve morale, professionalism, and operational capacity across all services. We are committed to building institutions that Nigerians can trust and be proud of,” Tunji-Ojo stated.

The Ministry’s commitment to transparency and service transformation is in line with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which seeks to reposition security and public service institutions for greater effectiveness and integrity.
