In response to recent challenges facing the party, former People’s Democratic Party (PDP) National Publicity Secretary, Chief Olisa Metuh, has urged members to continue advocating for the party’s core values and reaffirming that the PDP is still the nation’s best chance for stability and unity.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Metuh wrote:
“I just read that the Acting National Chairman, Amb. Iliya Damagum publicly denied the press interactive session addressed by the National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Debo Ologunagba. I do hope this is fake news at work. Otherwise, this is an act capable of bringing the party into great disrepute, and this is a cardinal offence against the party’s constitution….”

His remarks coincide with a critical moment for the PDP, which has been dealing with a wave of defections, legal issues, and leadership succession challenges since the ruling APC took power in 2015. Metuh urges both party veterans and grassroots followers to withstand disenchantment and preserve the party’s original principles as the 2027 elections approach.

As the opposition tries to reorganize and establish a strong rival to the ruling party, Metuh’s actions might help stabilise internal PDP dynamics and give party members newfound vigour.

Despite past political setbacks, Metuh’s conviction that the PDP remains Nigeria’s best option underscores his belief that deep-rooted institutional values—if revitalised—can still propel the party to national relevance and leadership.
