The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has carried out a successful airstrike against Boko Haram militants in the Mandara Mountain region of Borno State, demolishing one of their key hideouts.
According to a statement by Group Captain Kabiru Ali, Deputy Director of Public Relations and Information, the strike took place on March 16 in the Chikide and Degbewa areas, dealing a severe blow to the terrorists and disrupting their operations.
“Acting on credible Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) data, reports indicated that a notorious Boko Haram commander, Ali Ngulde, and his fighters were planning a high-level meeting at the location,” Ali stated.
ISR missions over the area confirmed intense terrorist activity at an assembly point in Degbewa, where fortified structures with solar-powered installations indicated a major command hub.
Based on this intelligence, NAF launched a precision night strike, catching the insurgents off guard.
“The coordinated airstrike devastated the terrorists’ logistics and command center, triggering massive fires that destroyed multiple structures and eliminated a significant number of militants,” Ali added.
This operation marks another strategic success in the fight against insurgency in the North-East.
