Governor Fubara Moves to Implement Supreme Court Ruling, Proposes New Budget Presentation Date

Port Harcourt, Nigeria – Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has taken a decisive step toward implementing the Supreme Court’s judgment, as he formally wrote to the State House of Assembly, proposing a new date for the re-presentation of the 2025 Appropriation Bill.

In a March 13 letter, personally signed and addressed to Speaker Martins Amaewhule, Fubara proposed March 19, 2025, for the fresh budget presentation. The move follows his previous unsuccessful attempt to present the bill, during which he was denied access to the Assembly complex.

Fubara’s action is seen as an effort to align with legal directives and address ongoing tensions between the executive and legislative arms of the state government. It remains to be seen how the House of Assembly will respond to the governor’s latest attempt to fulfill constitutional obligations.

More updates to follow as the situation unfolds.
