Port Harcourt, Nigeria – Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has once again written to the State House of Assembly, informing lawmakers of his intention to re-present the 2025 Appropriation Bill for consideration and approval.
In a letter dated March 13, 2025, addressed to Speaker Martin Amaewhule, the governor stated his readiness to present the budget on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, or any other date within the month that the House deems appropriate.
Fubara explained that his decision aligns with the Supreme Court’s judgment and is in response to the lawmakers’ request for a fresh budget presentation.
He also recalled the previous standoff when he attempted to present the budget at the Assembly Quarters, where lawmakers were temporarily sitting, but was denied access to the complex.
The move signals another chapter in the ongoing political tensions within Rivers State, as stakeholders watch closely for how the Assembly will respond to the governor’s latest attempt.
