El-Rufai Criticizes APC for Favoring ‘Lagos Boy’; As Buhari Reaffirms Loyalty to Party

Abuja, Nigeria – Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasiru El-Rufai, has criticized the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), claiming it no longer adheres to its founding principles and that key positions are being allocated to “Lagos boys” at the expense of those who worked for the party’s success.

His remarks come amid his recent defection to the Social Democratic Party (SDP), fueling speculations that other political figures may also leave the APC.

However, former President Muhammadu Buhari, in a statement issued by his media aide Garba Shehu on Tuesday, dismissed any doubts about his political allegiance, stressing that he remains fully committed to the APC.

Meanwhile, the Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Abdullahi Ata, responded to El-Rufai’s remarks, asserting that President Bola Tinubu’s administration remains focused on fulfilling the APC’s campaign promises despite what he described as “El-Rufai’s theatrics.”

With growing political tensions within the APC, analysts are watching closely for potential further defections and their implications for Nigeria’s political landscape.
