Chief Dele Momodu isn’t known for staying silent when there’s something to be said. This time, the publisher of Ovation magazine and prominent figure in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is setting his sights on Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
In a recent statement, Momodu accused Wike of being one of the main reasons Peter Obi left the PDP in 2022,a move that shook the party to its core and significantly altered the dynamics of the 2023 presidential election.
According to Momodu, Wike created an environment that made it impossible for Obi to thrive within the party. “Wike was one of the biggest reasons Obi left the PDP,” he said, implying that the internal politics and tension pushed the former Anambra State governor to find a new home with the Labour Party.
Peter Obi’s departure from the PDP wasn’t just a personal decision, it had national consequences. His campaign energized millions of Nigerians, especially the youth, who rallied behind him with unprecedented passion. Many in the PDP now view his exit as a major loss, and some believe it split the opposition vote enough to give the APC the edge it needed.
Momodu’s statement is part of a larger conversation within the PDP about accountability and rebuilding. The party has suffered back-to-back defeats at the federal level, and without addressing internal conflicts and ego-driven politics, it risks further irrelevance.
