In a development that is stirring both controversy and debate, a US-based academic, Professor Mgbeke, has come forward with serious accusations against Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan. Mgbeke claims that the Senator representing Kogi Central is engaging in what she calls “gender weaponization” — using the language and symbols of gender advocacy as a political tool rather than a genuine cause.

Speaking from the United States, Professor Mgbeke did not mince words, alleging that Akpoti-Uduaghan’s real aim is to destabilize the leadership of Senate President Godswill Akpabio and, by extension, weaken the APC-led federal government. She warned that cloaking political ambition in the robe of gender equality not only disrespects the genuine struggles of women across Nigeria but risks creating cynicism toward true advocacy efforts.

The accusation comes at a time when tensions within the Senate are high and power struggles increasingly visible. Supporters of Akpoti-Uduaghan have dismissed the claims as politically motivated, while critics say there needs to be a clear distinction between genuine advocacy for women’s rights and strategic political maneuvering. For now, the controversy adds another layer of complexity to the already fractious national political scene.
