FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has praised the leadership of former Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa and his successor, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, for their support of President Bola Tinubu’s administration. Speaking at an event in Abuja, Wike said their decision to align with the current federal leadership is a sign of political maturity and national interest rising above party lines.
Wike, a prominent figure known for his outspokenness, acknowledged that politics often creates divisions, but emphasized that true leadership is about recognizing when to set differences aside for the greater good. He said the support from Okowa and Oborevwori has contributed to fostering cooperation between the federal and Delta State governments, which is vital for driving development in the oil-rich region.
“I commend them for not allowing political affiliations to overshadow the need to support the country’s progress,” Wike stated. “When leaders from different parties come together to support national goals, it sends a strong message that Nigeria comes first.”
Wike’s remarks were met with applause from attendees, many of whom saw it as a signal that collaboration across political lines may be gaining ground in Nigeria’s often fractious political landscape.
