Lagos, Nigeria – Tragedy struck in the Ijede area of Ikorodu, Lagos State, as gunmen brutally murdered Oluwatosin Onamade, a politician and aspirant for the Ijede Local Council Development Area (LCDA) chairmanship under the All Progressives Congress (APC).
According to reports, Onamade was shot and hacked to death with machetes on Saturday night by unidentified assailants dressed in black outfits, concealing their identities.
Speaking with PUNCH Metro, his distraught younger brother, Oluwafemi Onamade, revealed that the attackers had been trailing Onamade for some time before finally carrying out the gruesome act.
“They had been after him for a while. We didn’t know when or how they would strike, but unfortunately, they did on Saturday night,” Femi lamented.
Details of the attack remain sketchy, and the Lagos State Police Command has yet to issue an official statement. However, residents and political associates of Onamade have called for a thorough investigation to ensure justice is served.
Onamade’s murder has sent shockwaves through the Ijede and Ikorodu political landscape, with many questioning the rising wave of political violence and insecurity in the region.
